    The Starting Point

    The 2-Part In-Depth Assessment

A standard 15-minute appointment isn't enough to understand complex movement patterns or chronic injuries. Our assessment is completed over two separate days to uncover the contributing factors behind your limitations and build a precise roadmap for your recovery.

    Why Two Separate Days?

Most healthcare visits are understandably rushed. You explain your symptoms, receive a quick examination, and get a standard treatment plan. Providers in these settings do their best with the time they have — but if you are dealing with a recurring injury or looking to optimize performance, a quick fix isn't designed to go deep enough.

At Health Sciences Lab, we do not look at an area in isolation. We consider the entire body as a system and assess movement and patterns that have developed over time leading to compensations.

Our 2-Part Initial Assessment, completed over two separate days, gives us the time required to perform a comprehensive evaluation, test and retest movement mechanics, provide hands-on treatment, and build a fully customized rehabilitation strategy without cutting corners.

    Detailed Investigation

Time to thoroughly review your injury history, training demands, and goals.

    System-Wide Assessment

Evaluating how your entire body moves, not just the site of pain.

    Precise Protocol Design

Testing and retesting to ensure we prescribe the exact right interventions.

    Long-Term Resilience

Addressing compensations so your body becomes more efficient and built to perform.

    The Process

    What Happens During Your Assessment

    1

    Clinical Interview & History

We start by discussing your current issue, injury history, training volume, and specific performance goals. Understanding your lifestyle and demands is critical to building an effective plan.

    2

Functional Movement Screening (FMS & SFMA)

We assess your global movement patterns to identify asymmetries, mobility restrictions, and motor control issues that may be contributing to your symptoms or limiting your performance.

    3

    Orthopedic & Neurological Testing

Specific clinical tests to accurately diagnose the injured tissue, rule out serious pathology, and understand the structural limitations.

    4

    Biomechanical & Load Testing

Evaluating how you move under load or during sport-specific tasks (like running or lifting) to see how your body handles stress and where compensations occur.

    5

    Initial Treatment & Intervention

Applying targeted hands-on care (like adjustments or Active Release Techniques) and immediately retesting movement to confirm we are on the right track.

    6

    Customized Rehabilitation Strategy

Building and coaching you through your specific exercise program, ensuring proper technique, and outlining the exact roadmap for your recovery.
